"Coastal" - a Collection of Original Watercolor Seascape Paintings Inspired by Southern California
“C O A S T A L”
a collection of original watercolor seascapes inspired by southern california
I want you to fully immerse yourself in this experience. Imagine you're driving down highway 101 after a beautiful day at the beach. The windows are open, you're listening to your favourite song with all of your favourite people in the car. The warm, salty air of the coast is blowing through your hair. You can't help but stare at the beautiful glow of an ever-changing sunset on the west coast.
This is the joy of life!
I recently returned from twelve days in Southern California. I spent almost every day at the beach, no matter the weather, soaking in the peaceful sounds of gentle waves, exploring tide pools, and gathering inspiration for this collection.
I left feeling completely renewed, refreshed, and inspired.
I've had it on my heart to create another collection of paintings inspired by the West Coast since I returned home from San Fransisco in October. Upon my return I immediately started pouring all of the inspiration I gathered on my most recent trip into this collection of paintings.
Southern California was recently hit with a ton of rain which left the coastline green and lush with vegetation. It was incredible to notice the difference in the colour of the light and the landscape in the winter months.
On a particularly cloudy, chilly day we decided to venture to the beach before the sun went down. Southern California had just been hit with huge waves which made the shore very rocky, providing the best treasure hunting. We found so many huge shells and trinkets.
As the waves crashed angaint the shore, I didn’t manage to escape on time and I was smashed almost waist deep by the waves. The water was actually quite warm for January, and we were left with a beautiful sunset, treasures in hand.
Some paintings just feel extra special. Each of these were painted slowly, restfully, through the meditation of vacation. Each painting emerged layer by washy layer.
Any would be the perfect addition to your already beautiful home.
Each painting comes signed and varnished, with the option of framing. Each frame is made from sustainably sourced, solid oak wood, with a white archival mat, and durable plexiglass.
Each original painting is a witness of the hand of the artist and the unique way I see the world. A piece that carefully shows every detail, brush stroke, touch and trace left behind by the artists’ hands. Not to mention those beautiful deckled edges!
Each of these intimate paintings have been carefully scanned, colour corrected, and reproduced into beautiful large scale prints of the highest quality. I purposely kept the texture of the original paintings in tact to express the looseness of each painting and the feeling of the beach. I'm so happy with the way they turned out!
Each of these prints are reproduced on beautiful, thick cotton watercolor paper, to look and feel just like original watercolour paintings.
