Local's Summer - a Collection of Original Seascape Paintings
I recently returned from two weeks in Southern California. I spent almost every day at the beach, soaking in the warm sunshine, fearlessly playing in the saltwater waves, basking in the joy of my children at the beach.
There’s nothing quite like the warm light of autumn reflecting off the ocean. Reflecting all of the colours of the rainbow in its waters. The feeling of the cool, ocean breeze and the warm light felt on your face as the sun turns to rose just before it sinks below the sea.
I left feeling completely renewed, refreshed, and inspired.
“Local’s Summer”
There’s a little secret in Southern California that the locals like to keep to themselves. During the months of September and October, the weather is perfect, the ocean is the warmest, and all the tourists have left. They call it Local’s Summer.
I was so grateful to be included in this special time of year.
While I was there, a whole collection of mini seascape paintings poured out of me. I couldn't seem to stop painting all of the beauty that surrounded and inspired me.
Some paintings just feel extra special. Each of these were painted slowly, restfully, through the meditation of vacation. Each painting emerged layer by washy layer. Seven Mini Seascape Paintings ranging in sizes 4 x 6" and 4 x 8".
Each original painting has been titled and signed, and beautifully framed in an 8x10” sustainably sourced solid oak wood frame, with a custom archival mat, and durable plexiglass.
They are the perfect addition to brighten up any shelf, or corner of your home, with the beauty of the west coast.
Each of these intimate paintings have been carefully scanned, colour corrected, and reproduced into beautiful large scale prints of the highest quality. I purposely kept the texture of the original paintings in tact to express the looseness of each painting and the feeling of the beach. I'm so happy with the way they turned out!
Reproduced on beautiful, thick cotton watercolour paper, this giclee print looks and feels just like an original watercolour painting.
Giclee Quality - Printed with 12 colour archival pigment inks
Museum Quality 1200 dpi Print
Each print comes signed and titled, with a wide border, packaged in a protective sleeve with a backer board or tube, to prevent any damage in transit.
I have a feeling I’m not quite done with this subject of the seaside. I have a whole folder of reference photos just waiting to be painted, but I think that might be a project for 2023.
I’m so grateful for your support and the ability it gives me to explore my creative desires with my family by my side. Always exploring nature’s beauty. Finding endless gratitude for the gift of the earth.
