November Studio Newsletter

October was spent soaking in the last bits of autumn: golden leaves and warm sunshine. I even managed to sneak in some time plein air painting with a fellow local artist. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the best at painting outside. It presents some challenges like an ever changing landscape as the light moves throughout the day. It forces you to work quickly and not treat your work too preciously. But who doesn't love sitting outside on a beautiful day with a majestic view and a paintbrush in hand?!

I've spent so much time actually painting this last month which doesn't happen all of the time. I created a set of beach ornaments inspired by Southern California for a shop in Encinitas. I finished up a really special watercolour painting commission, which was both challenging and sooo rewarding, and I finished painting a set of mountain sketches in gouache that I'm really happy with. I have so many exciting things to share with you this month!

What you can look forward to in November:

  • A small collection of original mountain paintings in gouache

  • Hand Painted Ceramic Ornaments (these sell very quickly)

  • A possible calendar (I'm still working out the kinks)

  • A collection of new prints for a limited time

  • My biggest print sale of the year!

Release dates are still to be determined so please check back regularly for announcements. Your inbox is the best place to stay in the loop and collect things early.

I will be changing venues for my Christmas Market this year. Rather than participating in the Kananaskis Christmas Market in Redwood Meadows, I'll be joining my fellow local artisans at the Bragg Creek Market on November 16th and 17th. I'm excited about this change of venue, and hope to see you there!

I will have a collection of ornaments, originals, greeting cards, and so many prints.

I will also be taking part in the Peak to Prairie Holiday Market on Sunday, December 8th at Winsport Park in Calgary.

If you're looking for something a little more custom for someone really special in your life, I have 3 options available for you:

  • Custom Ornaments

  • Custom Birch Paintings

  • A Commissioned Painting (for someone very special)

Availability for each of these items is limited and should be considered quickly before the rush of the holiday season. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out.

It's the perfect time to stock up on cards for the holiday's. You can find a collection of my greeting cards here: (click on the image below)

November's Featured Original:

“Everything in Rhythm”

If you're dreaming of sun drenched days in the hot Southern California sunshine of Joshua Tree National Park, this little desert watercolour painting is for you. While visiting Joshua Tree National Park I was captivated and awestruck by the vast colours of the Mojave Desert, even in winter. I spent most of my time in the quiet solitude of the desert, exploring and capturing some of the most beautiful reference photos.

“Everything in Rhythm” was created with multiple layers of watercolor paint, adding to the depth and light reflected in the peaceful desert. This painting comes framed in a 16x16" sustainably sourced, solid oak frame, with a large white archival mat, and durable museum grade, anti-glare acrylic plexiglass.

November's Featured Print:

"Dusk in the Desert"

This print was inspired by the Cholla Cactus Garden in Joshua Tree National Park. This print holds the quiet peace and solitude of the Mojave Desert. It is made to capture the rainbow of colours reflected on a surreal desert landscape at sunset. It looks absolutely beautiful in a larger size.

Art has a way of capturing a place in time, transporting you to a specific location, offering reverence to nature's beauty, and bringing nature's abundant peace and calm into your personal sanctuary.

Thank you for sticking with me to the end. I hope this wasn't too overwhelming. I'll be in touch with details for each exciting offer soon!

I look forward to the hustle and bustle preparing for the holiday season and sharing so many beautiful things with you. Thank you for allowing me the space and ability to support my family with the things I create.

I wish you the best this season. Thank you for your abundant support!

xo, Rebecca
