September Studio Update

Framed Joshua Tree Valley Watercolour Print

How is it already September?! My kids are back to school and summer is officially over, which means I am back to work in a more official/full-time roll. Somehow this is simultaneously exciting and extremely sad. (You know what they say, there's nothing shorter than a Canadian Summer).

August was a beautiful month full of nature, art markets and time adventuring, which provides so much inspiration for my creative practice in the months ahead. My boys and I spent a few days in Montana in Glacier National Park in awe of the majestic beauty! We had so much fun exploring all the lakes, mountain ranges, and treacherous roads in the park and spending time together. Our favourite thing was renting little tin boats to putter around on stunning alpine lakes. My eight year old especially loved this, as it was his first time driving a boat, never mind that it was only 10hp. I can guarantee a whole collection inspired by Glacier NP in the near future.

Going-to-the-Sun Road, Glacier National Park

I took part in my last Banff market for the season on August 28th. The weather was terribly rainy and cold, the mountain tops were covered in snow, and I spent the day drinking tea, eating soup, and shivering! Despite the weather, I still had a wonderful day at the market, and a wonderful Summer market season in Banff. It's always a pleasure to meet those of you who connect with my work and want to hang it in your homes. I will be sure to do it again next year.

A Collection of mini Canadian Rocky Mountain Paintings in Gouache

In September, I will be sharing a small collection of mini original paintings from local scenes in Alberta. I am in the process of creating a 2025 calendar, which will include previously unreleased Alberta prints. I'm so excited to share this with you! I've had a calendar in mind for a couple of years at least. Be sure to stay tuned for information about an original collection release and calendar pre-order details coming soon!

“Welcoming you Home”

My time spent at the Banff Market this summer was time spent in the shelter of Mount Rundle. Mount Rundle is the flagship of Banff National Park. Welcoming you home to the peace of the Canadian Rockies. This particular view is taken from Vermillion Lakes, the perfect place to rent a canoe and float along the lush, marshy lakes in summertime.

Bring this iconic Banff view into your home to remember summers spent in the shelter of the Canadian Rockies.

“Golden Hour”

The change of seasons ushers in a change in light and shadows as the days shorten, the shadows lengthen and the colours of the sunlight, leaves and meadows change to golden. Golden Hour is the view I see each time I drive home from the city. I love to watch the landscape change in each season.

Art has a way of capturing a place in time, offering reverence to nature's beauty, and bringing nature's abundant peace and calm into your personal sanctuary.

Each September I find myself decluttering my home, purging any unnecessary items, and returning it to a peaceful place of a time before the chaos of summer. Each year I notice an increase in print sales as you must inevitably be doing the same. It always makes me smile, knowing we share the same seasonal rhythms.

Please know I am always so grateful for all the ways you support me and my family in this beautiful work.
