Hello September: Back to School means Back to Work

August was such a breath of fresh air.

Artist, Rebecca Sobbi at Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta

Time with family, time in nature, and time spent roaming the vast beauty of Alberta. If August were to have a title in the chapter of my life, it would be “The Tour of Alberta”. And boy, did I sure soak in so much beautiful inspiration and captured so many reference photos for my painting practice.

My work is heavily influenced by the beauty that surrounds me in Canada’s wide, open landscape. Travelling especially influences the work I create by allowing me to infuse my paintings with the feelings associated with my surroundings. You’ll often hear me reference sounds, feelings, and scents of the places that inspire my work.

I LOVE places that hold special, magical feelings and I love to recreate them in paint.

I’ve been thinking lately about what I would be painting if my family’s day to day life didn’t depend on my creative career’s support. To be honest, I would probably paint more flowers, but I also know I would continue to paint landscapes. I can get so lost in the immense peace that I feel when I surrounded by beautiful natural places.

With the welcome of September, life moves back into regular rhythm, both at home, with my children, and in my creative work. I've been planning the last quarter of the year, getting ready for the busy rush of the holidays and all of the things I would love to have available to you. If there’s something you’d love to see from me this year, feel free to reach out.

I’m excited to share more regularly in this space.

xo,

Rebecca
