Original Artwork is Special

Original Watercolour Paintings of Mount Rundle and Emerald Lake by Rebecca Sobbi

Original artwork is special and deserves to be celebrated. In it, you can see the hand of the artist and the unique way they see the world. Every detail, brush stroke, touch and trace left behind by the artists’ hands.

I’ve come to the realization over the last few months that I’m undervaluing my original work. In fact, it’s something I’ve had on my mind for awhile now. And if I don’t hold it to the highest value… who will?!

I’ve recently stepped in to a more professional role as an artist; one that I hope to continue to grow into. In order to be taken more seriously, and to find longevity in my career, to support me and my family, I’ve got to increase my prices.

This is a really difficult decision, one that I’ve been avoiding for months now. I debated not increasing my prices to keep my artwork accessible, but this doesn’t do anyone any favours. In fact, this is the entire reason I create art prints.

I’ve been officially working as a full-time artist for 3 years. My work has improved in skill, and increased in demand. It brings me tears of joy to think of all the homes across the world that display the work I’ve created.

This also means that your investment in original artwork is secure and appreciating in value, which allows me to create a sustainable art practice that supports my family and allows me to continue doing the thing I love most in the world: creating art, for many years to come.

This is Exciting!

On October 1st, all 2022 original 16x20” watercolour paintings will increase in price to $450 CAD.

In the meantime, feel free to collect any original watercolour painting you’ve had your eye on at the current price.

Thank you so much for all the ways you support me and my beautiful art practice. It is a deep honour to create work for your home.

xo,

Rebecca
