June: Studio Happenings

and a bit of inspiration

Yet again, I've been creating more mini coastal paintings inspired by Southern California. I had such a lovely time at my sister's house last month celebrating my nephews wedding, and exploring more of the beautiful Southern California coastline. While I was there I couldn't help but take time to paint all of the beautiful inspiration in that part of the world. This time of year was especially beautiful, I mean, just look at this!

Be sure to add a little reminder on your calendar for June 20th at 10am Mountain Time, when I'll be releasing the next collection of Coastal Originals and Prints. They're all so beautiful, I can't wait to share them with you!

Coastal Collection

a collection of 7 original coastal watercolour paintings and 11 new fine art prints inspired by Southern California. Available June 20th.

I originally had planned to release a collection inspired by Tofino, but I just couldn't help myself. After this collection release, I plan to create more mini paintings inspired by Alberta to share with the Banff Market this summer. I will also be sure to release a collection of prints.

My Alberta lovers don't have to wait much longer for new work!

This means that the Tofino collection will need to wait until Fall, but I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. It's honestly a problem to have too much inspiration, one problem I am very grateful for.

I've enjoyed digging my hands in the soil again and planting a garden. Planting a garden in Canada always feels like such an act of faith. The proximity to the mountains means our growing season is so short! I planted everything later than usual because I was away but I've planted so many vegetables this year, tucking seeds in every empty space. I also always plant pansies for my grandma because she always had the most beautiful patch of pansies in her huge garden. Aren't these ones so cute?! I really hope everything grows well this year, and the squirrels don't steal all my tomatoes. Are you a garden lover like me?

I hope you too have felt a renewal of inspiration in this season and the bounty of nature. The rememberance that nature gives so freely is a calm and peace that penetrates to our very souls. This feeling is why I choose to create, and what I want to share with you.

xo, Rebecca
