Fading Wildflower Bouquet | Original Gouache Floral Painting
I love the feeling of walking through a meadow of grasses and wildflowers. As a child, I would wander through my grandmother’s fields and pick bouquets of wildflowers for my own mom.
And just like that, we are completely done the wildflower collection. As the culmination of this collection, I decided to paint a whole bouquet of wildflowers. This painting is one of my very favourites of the whole collection.
As a true celebration of all the remaining wildflowers at summers last light, I wondered through the forest, sheers in hand, clipping a bouquet of fading wildflowers as I walked.
This painting first began with a sketch, a transparent layer of watercolour, layers upon layers of gouache to get the colours just right, and then an ink sketch to complete the painting.
This painting is the last of 20 gouache original Wildflower Paintings released at 10am MST each Wednesday.
Each of these wildflowers are found locally in Alberta.
