Yarrow | Original Gouache Floral Painting
I love the feeling of walking through a meadow of grasses and wildflowers. As a child, I would wander through my grandmother’s fields and pick bouquets of wildflowers for my own mom.
Yarrow is one of my very favourites, but one I did not know about until I moved to the forest. I love the delicate, antique, lace-like petals, and fern-like leaves. In fact, when I first discovered it, I thought it was a small fern. But most of all I love how long the flowers last.
This painting first began with a sketch, a transparent layer of watercolour, layers upon layers of gouache to get the colours just right, and then an ink sketch to complete the painting.
