I love the feeling of walking through a meadow of grasses and wildflowers. As a child, I would wander through my grandmother’s fields and pick bouquets of wildflowers for my own mom.

Shooting Stars are one of my very favourites. They are hidden, vibrant surprises lining the hiking trails throughout the Rocky Mountains. Such tiny pops of colour.

This painting first began with a sketch, a transparent layer of watercolour, layers upon layers of gouache to get the colours just right, and then an ink sketch to complete the painting.

This painting is the seventeenth of 20 gouache original Wildflower Paintings released at 10am MST each Wednesday.

Each of these wildflowers are found locally in Alberta.
