I love the feeling of walking through a meadow of grasses and wildflowers. As a child, I would wander through my grandmother’s fields and pick bouquets of wildflowers for my own mom.
With such simple, delicate beauty, I love to celebrate this beautiful wildflower.
The first painting, “Wild Rose”, is very fitting to lead the way, as the Provincial flower of Alberta, it is found everywhere!
This painting first began with a sketch, a transparent layer of watercolour, layers upon layers of gouache to get the colours just right, and then an ink sketch to complete the painting.
This painting is the first of 20 gouache original Wildflower Paintings released at 10am MST each Wednesday.
Each of these wildflowers are found locally in Alberta.
