Chicory | Original Gouache Floral Painting
I love the feeling of walking through a meadow of grasses and wildflowers. As a child, I would wander through my grandmother’s fields and pick bouquets of wildflowers for my own mom.
Chicory is one of my very favourites! With such delicate, bright, and wild spindly petals. I love this flower, even though it resembles a thistle. To be completely honest, this flower was spotted in a ditch on the side of the road, just begging to be painted.
This painting first began with a sketch, a transparent layer of watercolour, layers upon layers of gouache to get the colours just right, and then an ink sketch to complete the painting.
