Bachelor Button | Original Gouache Floral Painting
I love the feeling of walking through a meadow of grasses and wildflowers. As a child, I would wander through my grandmother’s fields and pick bouquets of wildflowers for my own mom.
Bachelor Button is one of my very favourites! With such unexpected vibrancy, they remind me of fireworks. I love to celebrate this beautiful, brilliant wildflower.
This painting first began with a sketch, a transparent layer of watercolour, layers upon layers of gouache to get the colours just right, and then an ink sketch to complete the painting. This particular painting was also created using my very first handmade gouache paints from natural earth pigments.

Each of these wildflowers are found locally in Alberta.
